Future Firefighters

I took the boys to a private fire station tour and here is the story:

Jonas was so bashful when he first saw the firemen. He didn't know
what to do other than suck on his fingers. He eventually got in the fire truck and looked around.

Silas sat in amazement and smiled at the men.

Jonas' buddies came along, Asher and Noah. All 2 months of each other. They were funny to watch them explore.

Officer Mark geared up to show the boys what firefighters look like if they need to come to their house to rescue them.

Spraying water from the hose was cool!

Sitting on a fire motorcycle was cooler!
And watching the firefighters get an emergency call and had to rush out of there was the coolest!!

Snowy day in May!

Middle of May and it snowed! And of course, Matt still commuted on his bike to work. You never know what you will get here in Colorado. If you don't like the weather, wait 24 hours and it will change. Tomorrow will be in the 60's.
Snowy day was a perfect day to stay inside and do a little craft. Jonas and I made masks. I took his picture
and then he took my picture and then
we took a self portrait. It was so fun!

Silas 7 months old

2010_05_08 010 by Andy Pickler.
A beautiful day for Silas to turn 7 months old. We took our boys out for a hike at a nearby park and watched a 50 mile mountain bike race. A race that their Uncle Andy raced in and Matt raced last year. We had rattles for Silas to help cheer on the competitors and Jonas had bells. It sounded like Santa Claus was coming. Uncle Andy biked 5 laps, so we were able to watch him go by several times. Jonas and Silas love their Uncle Andy...always with a smile on his face and getting dirty with them. Good job Andy!

Putt Putt golf for Mother's day

Mother's day was perfect! Matt and the boys took me to our favorite breakfast restaurant, called Country Road Cafe. It is in the country/foothills of Denver. Ordered a proscuitto, avocado, brie omelet with hollandaise sauce. It was so delicious! Matt and Jonas shared 2 huge pancakes and biscuit and gravy. Like father like son. Headed to church for a tear jerker sermon...and learned alot about Manna. Wow! If you want to hear it, here is the website to listen to it or download to podcast....http://www.thesanctuarydowntown.org/

During nap time, I received a pedicure and sipped a Starbucks latte with a magazine. I don't think I have ever done that by myself. It was rejuvenating! The boys woke up and headed to a small amusement park. Rode the carousel and played 18 hole putt putt golf. I made a hole in one and Jonas' first time playing and he loved it. When you putt your ball in the 18th hole, it disappears b/c the game is done. Jonas was so sad! He got down on his knees and looked in the hole and said "play more golf ball, play more golf ball". Matt had to carry him all the way back to the car, he was so sad. His Opa would be so proud of him. What an athlete. He loves all sports and really good at them...natural athlete already. Watch out!

Met Asher and his parents for pizza at Woody's and ate a lot of food! We had to walk downtown Golden along the river to burn off some calories. What a lovely evening for it too!

I was so sad I didn't have my camera with me for this amazing Mother's day! But I will always remember and cherish. I LOVE being a mom to Jonas and Silas.

Jonas and Asher

Last week, we had Jonas' best friend, Asher, and his parents live with us for a week. They were in between selling their old home and buying a new home so we offered them to stay with us in our basement. Living together was easy and fun for the most part. The big kids(the adults) enjoyed cooking for each other, hot tubbing, going out to dinner and then Rockies game, and the last night we rode our bike cruisers to Dairy Queen for ice cream. The little kids(Jonas and Asher) had some really good times together and rough moments. They could be the bestest friends and the worst enemies! Lots of time outs! LOL! However, at the end of the day, they both love giving each other hugs. And of course at bedtime, Jonas always thanks Jesus for "Asher buddy".

Anyway, the house has been very quiet this week. We have visited Asher and his parents at their new house twice. Today I drove by their street and Jonas said "Asher's house"..."let's go to Asher's house, go left". I was amazed that he knew where Asher lives already and he knew what street to turn on.
