Explore Club

Get Outdoors and Explore Club was todays activity through Lookout Mountain Nature Center. Today was designed to learn about the season Autumn and play time outside in nature at Lair O' the Bear park. It was a 2 hour program and Jonas fervently loved every minute of it.

Teacher showing us stone flies under rocks in the creek. And then skipping them on top of the water was the best.

Using the magnifying glass made everything not just bigger but more interesting.

Rock jumping across the creek.

Etching leaves in our journal.

Photo shoot of the 3 of us. We had a 7 year old take the picture...I think he did a pretty good job.

After the class, we picnicked under a tree and then had another hour of riding Jonas' new bike around the trails.

I think Jonas loves to mountain bike already. He crashed and got right back up. Tonight Matt noticed his hand was all cut up and he told him that "I crashed and it doesn't need a kiss".

Last days of summer

Today set the hottest day in September....93 degrees. We filled up our kid pool, Jonas stripped down naked, and had a good time getting wet. I can't believe it's Autumn season in a few days. Enjoy the video of Jonas jumping and laughing.

Since we have lived in this house, our apple tree has never produced good apples until now. We started picking them and will be making apple pies and applesauce. What a perfect time to welcome autumn.

Day out with Thomas

Matt took Jonas to the Railroad Museum to see Thomas the tank engine this weekend. Thomas travels through Colorado once a year...I think this will be an annual event for our boys for several years. Jonas has enjoyed playing and watching videos of Thomas and his friends. But now, oh my, he can't stop talking about Thomas and Sir Topham Hatt that he met. Even his Thomas tshirt has been worn for the past 48 hours. He won't take it off.

He was pulled behind Thomas for 1/2 hour. He loved it!

Connecting the coupler.

Face Tattoos. Don't ask...he wanted them on his face. And they are still there after 2 days.

Petting zoo at the museum too! He chased the little baby goat(aka kid).

Videos of Jonas and Silas

Jonas mountain biking at Grandmom's house. First real bike ride! He is a champ!

Silas pushing his Radio Flyer bike. Such a big boy!

Silas 11 months old

11 months old and on fire! I call him "turbo"...always on the move. However, he is not walking yet. Just a lot of personality! Talks a ton and always lets you know he is around. Jonas was walking by 8 months, running by 10 months old. It's crazy how different they are. Silas loves books and interested in what every picture is in the book. He points at a picture and looks at me waiting for the answer. Just yesterday he pointed at a dog and I said "dog" then he signed the word dog by patting his leg. Amazing! He loves sign language and is picking up on words really fast.

Today was a fun day! We celebrated by going for a bike ride after we put in a loaf of banana bread in the oven.

Enjoy the photos I took of our day! He is so darn cute!!

Labor Day weekend

For Labor Day weekend, Matt married some good friends of ours in Manitou Springs so we made it a long weekend to stay with Grancy. We enjoyed a few nights out at the rehearsal and wedding...and Grancy loved taking care of the boys. Matt was able to dove hunt as well.

Matt is "jack of all trades". He can teach high school students, manage a bike business, hairstylist(dyed my hair for the wedding), officiates, and filled with useless information. He is amazing! And the ceremony was short and sweet...just the way they wanted. Congrats Clinton and Kerry! We are so happy for you guys!

Jonas was excited to go to Grancy's house in the forest. He wanted to bring his new bike and go "off roading"...aka mountain biking. He is picking up on this new concept of balance biking with no pedals or training wheels. Such a brilliant idea!

Silas looking his best! Such a smoosher!

Silas had 3 teeth come through in a matter of 3 days. Ouch! Watch out he loves to bite!

Uncle Andy and Aunt Lo were able to stop by and enjoy playing with the boys for a few hours. Silas and Andy followed an ant and then lost it...here is the photo of wondering where it went.

Going fishing in his toy box at Grancy's. Wearing Uncle Jon's fishing hat when he was a boy.

Every night the boys were dirty...they love bathtime! It's tough getting them to sit down. Boys will be boys!

Thanks Nancy for taking us in for the long weekend. You are truly a special Grandmom to our boys and your home is so welcoming and peaceful in the woods. We love to visit!
