1st T-ball season

Jonas has officially begun the baseball season for the first time! Bear Creek Youth Sports T-ball started last week and has had 3 practices so far. He loves the teammates and loves the coaches and loves BASEBALL. His coaches, Dave and Eric, are dads of 2 boys on the team, they love coaching the little guys and having fun. Since I wasn't there for the first practice, Matt took some photos.
First they had to tuck in their shirts because that's what baseball players do, they look respectful and nice.
Coaches taught the boys to throw correctly with 2 fingers back like a snake.
Considering Jonas is the smallest and youngest on the team and never has been coached, the coaches were quite impressed. He told Matt, "He is a natural, the best to coach." Living up to the Helton name...hee!
Getting into an athletic stance to catch grounders like an alligator.

Matt and I are so happy for Jonas and the love for the sport. He just jumps right out there with the team and listens to the coach with eagerness to learn. He truly wants to know more about the game and improve in any way. He is so attentive and excited to be on a baseball team.
His first game is April 14th.

Quotes by the boys

Lately, I have written down some sayings from Jonas and Silas. I just have to share.

Jonas-"Mom, what's this say on the basketball?" I said-'Nuggets represents the Denver basketball team'
"Like Chicken Nuggets?"

Jonas-"Mom, I had a dream last night about penguins. We sailed to the ocean on a boat to Canada and knocked down boulders and rocks."

Jonas-While counting his coins-"There's a whole fleet of pennies!"

Jonas-"Since I don't have enough to buy a lego set, we can take the money out of the college slot since I'm not going yet."

Last but not least Silas
"Mom, pull my finger." (yes in order to toot!)

Spring has sprung

Springtime is here! Even though March is our snowiest month, this year has been extremely balmy and wonderful. After a long winter and dark days, we love being outside again and staying up a little later. Here's an update of our life lately!
Silas is back to the sandbox creating roads and ditches in his town. It's been so astonishing how many hours he can pretend play and be in the sand.

Jonas is back to digging steps for his neighbor friend, Kallie, to come over to play once in awhile.

Dad practicing his snowboard moves on the tramp!

For the past few weeks, it's been in the high 60's/low 70's...heavenly! We been on hikes to Lair of the Bear already and enjoying a refreshing ice cream cone afterward.

The week leading up to St. Patrick's day, we made rainbow cupcakes with a pot of gold(Rolo candy) on top.

Prepared a fruit rainbow for snack. So delicious!

Oma sent us a care package for the holiday and sent shamrock glasses for the boys. Jonas wore them around the house and church...loved them.

Matt bought tickets to go to his school play,"Beauty and the Beast". It was fantastic and the boys were so attentive and sat through the whole show(2 hours long). I asked Silas what his favorite part was and said, "Dancing!"

Jake, Matt's student, as Gaston...excellent role!

March 20th marked the '1st day of Spring'. I was so elated that I had to celebrate with a gift treasure hunt for the boys.
Lego sticker book and a fun fusion activity.

While eating breakfast, 6 deer came tromping through our yard to welcome spring. They were looking for food after a cold winter. The trees have started to bud and our flowers of tulips, daffodils, and crocuses have appeared. I sent George outside to keep them moving out of the yard. Lol!
When Matt came home, we took the boys out for a bike ride. It was the first ride of the year and with Jonas on the Tag-a-long. He was so excited, had a smile on his face the whole time. We were planning to ride around a lake in our neighborhood but Jonas insisted to keep riding. We rode our loop around Bear Creek Lake Park...16 MILES! While riding, Jonas told me, "Mama, I'm going to dream about this tonight." He was exhausted and went to bed by 7pm.

Dr. Seuss' 108th birthday

March 2nd would have been Dr. Seuss' 108th birthday. We honored him by reading his books all week and enjoy some Dr. Seuss activities.
Started off with Green Eggs and Ham for breakfast. Jonas asked, "Mama, why isn't the ham green?" I responded"B/c you are not fourteen!" Thought it would be fun to rhyme throughout the day too.

Cat in the Hat treats
Made with Oreos and gummy lifesavers..yum, yum, what delicious flavors!

The Cat in the hat mask...what a big task!

Our last activity of the day was adding/subtracting goldfish and then fishing for them with peanut butter and celery.
