Daddy and I had a chance to take a trip to Moab this fall without you boys. It was all initiated by Corine and Tom Sweeney turning 60 this year. So 6 months ago, we planned this trip with the Sweeneys and arranged you three boys to stay home. Lukas went with Grandmom/Grandad and Jonas/Silas went to friends house and Missy staying at our house for the weekend.
First night we stayed in Vail at Sweeneys condo...which we house swapped for our Moab accommodation. Started off the trip biking 40 miles through Colorado Monument on the road the next morning. It was unseasonably warm outside in October but it was nice to road bike with the Corine and Tom again. We use to bike with them on bicycle tours around the state....miles and miles on the road.
Off to Moab and checked in our house. It was spectacular! Stucco ranch style home...we have never stayed in Moab and NOT camp. This is was a whole new experience!
Friday morning we rode 20 miles at Klondike bluffs trailhead. The feeling of being on my mountain bike in Moab is so magical especially riding with daddy...my love!
Saturday morning we started off early to ride the 65 mile loop on the road called the Laval Mountain Loop. It's been years since I've ridden more than 50 miles on the road but we all teamed up and supported each other the whole way. The views of autumn were marvelous and stunning! The fresh cool/warm air was spectacular. We rode through forested area to desert with pinnacles and climbed 6,000 feet in elevation. We were pooped at the end! Rested our tush and raised our feet for the rest of the day.
Sunday was a much cooler day but we explored a new trail called Klonzo. I believe parents had designed these single track trails for their kiddos. We want to bring you here soon. That evening, Daddy and I adventured out to another new place that was very difficult. We were riding at dusk so made a short loop to chase the sunset. Dad and I really enjoy riding bikes together, it seems so easy and content to be with each other. I love your dad so so so much more than I can say!
Drove back to Denver Monday morning in the rain and snow excited to see you three again. Dad picked up Lukas at Grandmoms and I picked you other two at soccer practice with Ted and Hollis Politte. Jonas, you greeted me with a huge hug and said "I'm ready to be home with you and the whole family." Silas, you started crying when you saw me and said "I don't want to go home, I want to be with my friends."
Swim team while we were gone and Lukas with Grandmom at a park.
